en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Brazilian Federal Senate (Senado Federal) approved a favorable opinion this Wednesday (1st) to establish the Artificial Intelligence, Data Protection, and Digital Security Parliamentary Front (Frente Parlamentar de Inteligência Artificial, Proteção de Dados e Segurança Digital). The decision was made by the Science, Technology, Innovation, and Information Committee (Comissão de Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovação e Informática, CCT) based on Senate Draft Resolution (Projeto de Resolução do Senado, PRS) No. 38/2025, also approving an urgent procedure to accelerate the establishment of the new front. Analysts point out that this move is significant for Brazil's progress in this field.

The front will operate as a permanent forum within the Senate, providing a coordination space and debate platform for lawmakers, the government, and regulatory agencies. It will also be open to the productive sector, academia, and civil society, enabling their participation in discussions on the country's technological direction. Its main task is to closely monitor the formulation of public policies related to artificial intelligence, digital security, and data protection. With the committee's approval of the urgent procedure, the proposal has now directly entered the agenda of the Senate plenary session. If ultimately approved by senators, the group will be formally established to coordinate debates on key issues such as the regulatory framework for artificial intelligence and the upcoming digital sovereignty rules.

Digital security has already been considered a priority, and advances in artificial intelligence have further highlighted the importance of this issue. The misuse of artificial intelligence by cybercriminals is one of the problems frequently warned about by experts. These topics warrant more determined and concentrated efforts from public institutions, including the regulatory agency National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), the legislative body National Congress (Congresso Nacional), and all levels of government.
