(Toyota City, Japan) have announced the formation of a joint venture, initiating the initial phase of their strategic manufacturing alliance. This joint venture will combine Joby's work in electric aviation with Toyota's expertise in production systems and operational excellence.

The strategic alliance will first focus on laying the foundation for commercial production and advancing manufacturing excellence, with a particular emphasis on further improving productivity, quality, and cost. In the future, it will also support Joby in scaling production capacity to support aircraft certification and meet the growing demand for its electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft.
