en.Wedoany.com Reported - United Airlines recently took delivery of its 69th and 70th Airbus A321neo aircraft, with the two planes ferried from Airbus' U.S. final assembly line at Mobile International Airport (BFM) on July 1 and July 2, respectively.
The new aircraft, registered as N24573 and N54561, first flew to Tampa International Airport (TPA) after the ferry flights. They will undergo professional maintenance checks, interior installations, and other regulatory inspections at United's own maintenance hangar at the airport. United operates a $33 million facility at this Florida airport. Among them, N54561 completed a one-hour and 42-minute ferry flight on July 2, while N24573 was later repositioned to Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB). After these preparations, both aircraft entered service this week.

This delivery is part of the "United Next" plan, which aims to receive over 250 aircraft by April 2028 to expand the fleet and introduce more modern models. United currently operates more than 400 aircraft and serves over 400 destinations, ranking first among U.S. airlines. According to United, the A321neo has the highest passenger satisfaction score among its fleet, outperforming its extensively operated Boeing 737 narrowbody models. Among this batch of A321neo orders, up to 50 are the new "Coastliner" variant, equipped with all-aisle-access lie-flat "United Polaris" seats. Compared to the closest competitor products, these seats offer wider shoulder and elbow space. Once in service, the Coastliner will operate routes connecting United's West Coast hubs—San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)—with East Coast destinations such as Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). This variant features a total of 20 all-aisle-access United Polaris seats, 12 United Premium Plus seats, and 129 economy seats, with the rear three seats removed to accommodate a snack bar.

According to ch-aviation data, United's fleet currently comprises over 1,100 active aircraft, with nearly 600 on order, most of which are narrowbodies. Active models include 71 Airbus A319-100s, 64 Airbus A320-200s, 70 Airbus A321neos (including the latest deliveries), 40 Boeing 737-700s, 140 Boeing 737-800s, 12 Boeing 737-900s, 136 Boeing 737-900ERs, 123 Boeing 737 MAX 8s, and 160 Boeing 737 MAX 9s. On the order book, United has 135 Airbus A321neos, 63 Boeing 737 MAX 9s, and 165 Boeing 737 MAX 10s pending delivery. Given production challenges facing the 737 MAX 10, United has been considering converting some of these orders to the already operational MAX 8 and MAX 9. United utilizes its narrowbody fleet for extensive domestic routes as well as short- to medium-haul international services to the Caribbean and Latin America.
