en.Wedoany.com Reported - Skanska has signed a contract with Norwegian aluminum producer Hydro to build a new aluminum wire rod production facility on Karmøy, Norway. The contract value is approximately NOK 1.1 billion, equivalent to SEK 1 billion, and this order will be included in Skanska's Nordic order backlog for the third quarter of 2026.

The project is located within Hydro's Karmøy plant and primarily involves the construction of a production hall equipped with furnaces and a wire rod production line, as well as buildings for warehousing, maintenance, and office use. The scope of work includes civil construction, technical installations, and the connection of the facility to the existing plant's infrastructure. The aluminum wire rod production line is designed with an annual capacity of approximately 110,000 tons.

Site construction has commenced, and the project is scheduled for completion in March 2028.
