en.Wedoany.com Reported - SemiQon has secured a strategic equity investment from PostScriptum to support the commercialization expansion and volume manufacturing of its silicon-based Cryo-CMOS control and readout microchips. PostScriptum, a professional founder's office led by technology expert Peter Sarlin (co-founder of Silo AI), has also committed €30 million (approximately $34.35 million) in capital specifically dedicated to funding foundational hardware layer technologies such as cryoelectronics, advanced sub-Kelvin attenuation, and cooling modules, which are considered essential for transitioning quantum computers into the million-qubit execution era.

SemiQon's hardware platform targets a scaling bottleneck in quantum computing: the complex, heavy coaxial wiring assemblies traditionally required to transmit signals between sub-millikelvin quantum processors and room-temperature control racks. The company, originating from the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd, conducts local production at the Micronova Center for Applied Micro and Nanotechnology in Espoo. Its cryogenically optimized silicon integrated circuits operate directly within the ultra-cold environment of the cryostat. By placing primary readout and control electronics near the qubits without introducing thermal or magnetic interference, the chip architecture reduces the physical footprint of the interconnect layer, providing a path for modular scaling from hundreds to millions of qubits.

The primary commercial advantage of SemiQon's technology lies in its natural structural compatibility with standard, high-volume Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor (CMOS) production lines. Instead of relying on custom, small-scale manufacturing facilities, the chip uses lithography equipment, silicon wafers, and test parameters from traditional global microchip foundries for volume production. This manufacturing framework enables SemiQon (led by co-founder and CEO Himadri Majumdar) to deliver multimodal hardware subsystems to third-party quantum computer manufacturers and system integrators worldwide, while also addressing cross-industry demands in the autonomous space technology and High-Performance Computing (HPC) sectors.

To advance its broader quantum portfolio, PostScriptum has appointed Antti Vasara as Vice President of Quantum, overseeing its deployment pipeline. Vasara, who also serves as Chairman of the Board at SemiQon, previously held the position of President and CEO at VTT, bringing deep experience in microelectronics commercialization. His appointment strengthens PostScriptum's positioning alongside existing deep-tech incubation projects, including the newly launched quantum Artificial Intelligence lab Qutwo, aiming to establish vertically integrated European technology centers capable of manufacturing autonomous control electronics and solidify Finland's position in the global supply chain.
