en.Wedoany.com Reported - Malaysia's Kuok Group plans to invest up to €5.3 billion (approximately $6 billion) to build a 300MW hyperscale data center campus in the southern suburbs of Milan. Italian Minister of Industry Adolfo Urso met with K2 Strategic CEO Meng Wei Kuok on June 26 to discuss the proposal. The project is expected to create approximately 200 long-term jobs and up to 8,000 construction jobs.

This investment will be used for the development and long-term operation of the campus. Founded in 2017, K2 Strategic is the digital infrastructure arm of the Kuok Group, focusing on the development and operation of hyperscale data centers. According to DataCenterMap, the company currently operates three facilities in Ireland and Malaysia, with two more under construction in Dublin.
The Lombardy region is Italy's fastest-growing data center market, with Milan's capacity expected to expand from 200MW to 2GW over the next five years. However, this growth also faces local opposition, including resistance to a proposed 240MW campus in Magenta.
