en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, the European Patent Office (EPO) officially announced the winners of the "2026 European Inventor Award". Yu Haijun and Xie Yinghao from Brunp Recycling, a subsidiary of CATL, won two honors—the "Non-EPO Countries Award" and the "Popular Prize"—for their globally leading power battery recycling innovative technology, becoming the first Chinese team to achieve a double honor since the award's inception.
The "European Inventor Award" was jointly established in 2006 by the European Patent Office and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Enterprise and Industry. It is one of the most influential innovation awards in Europe, aimed at recognizing outstanding individuals and teams who provide solutions to major global challenges. This year's award focuses on breakthrough advancements in fields such as food chemistry, energy, biotechnology, and environmental technology.
In 2023, CATL's Chief Scientist Wu Kai and his team won the "Non-EPO Countries Award" for their contributions to lithium-ion battery safety. Brunp Recycling's latest achievement marks another recognition of CATL's R&D strength and innovative spirit by this prestigious international award.
