en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 3, RWE advanced the Peartree Hill solar-plus-storage project in the UK, planning to build a 320MW solar power station with a supporting battery energy storage system. Located in East Yorkshire, England, the project will connect to an existing substation via underground cables before linking to the UK national power grid.

The Peartree Hill solar-plus-storage project plans to install photovoltaic modules on local land, with approximately 95% of the project area remaining available for sheep grazing. Once completed, it is expected to meet the electricity needs of about 167,000 households. RWE submitted its project application to the UK Planning Inspectorate in February 2025, and will subsequently advance engineering construction, equipment procurement, and grid connection arrangements.

The Peartree Hill solar-plus-storage project contrasts with the Dean Moor Solar Farm, also advancing in the UK during the same period, which has a planned capacity of 150MW. The project also includes a battery energy storage system and has secured a grid connection capacity of 448MW. RWE stated that obtaining development consent is a key milestone for the project, and will subsequently advance engineering construction, equipment procurement, and grid connection arrangements. This project will serve as a case study for the coordinated development of large-scale solar power stations and energy storage systems in the UK.
