en.Wedoany.com Reported - L&K Group's North West Auctions plans to develop a 30-acre site near Junction 33 of the M6 motorway south of Lancaster, UK, to build a dedicated auction facility.

Planning work for the proposal is underway. The core building will be an 81,000-square-foot auction hall, used for livestock storage, auction stands, offices, catering, and meeting facilities, along with small commercial units. This auction hall will serve as the operational hub for North West Auctions, a company specializing in agricultural auctions, primarily dealing in livestock, land, and agricultural machinery.

Additionally, the plan includes the construction of six commercial units totaling 43,600 square feet. The total new build area is 124,000 square feet, to be developed on 15 acres of the 30-acre site. The site is located north of the proposed Ellel Holiday Village, a project rejected by Lancaster City Council in 2024.

According to planning documents prepared by MWT Planning, an existing farmhouse on the site with heritage value will be retained and converted into offices. Mason Gillibrand Architects is also providing advisory services to the applicant.

North West Auctions already has an existing site in Lancaster and operates sites at three junctions north of Kendal on the M6. The company has been planning the new Lancaster facility since 2015, when an option agreement for the land was signed. According to the Westmorland Gazette, a letter to shareholders stated that this move would "maximize the potential sale proceeds from the existing 8-acre site on Wyresdale Road."
