en.Wedoany.com Reported - PLDT, Smart Communications, and DITO Telecommunity have signed a memorandum of understanding to share certain telecommunications infrastructure. The three parties stated that this move will help expand network coverage and improve service reliability.

The agreement covers three areas: mutual access to eligible macro cell tower sites, co-location of in-building telecommunications facilities, and sharing of submarine cable capacity through Indefeasible Right of Use arrangements. Under the agreement, the three companies will allow each other to use some existing tower sites and indoor telecommunications facilities, rather than building separate infrastructure in the same area. Additionally, the parties will explore sharing submarine cable capacity to more efficiently utilize existing international connectivity assets.
PLDT stated that the arrangement involves reciprocal resource sharing with no monetary transactions between the parties. PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan said the agreement reflects the broader role of telecom operators in improving connectivity accessibility. He stated: "Connecting the nation is a shared responsibility for us as Philippine telecommunications companies. This agreement demonstrates that even as we compete in the market, we can collaborate where it matters most: accelerating digital inclusion, helping connect every Filipino, and creating greater opportunities for our people and our country."
DITO President and CEO Eric R. Alberto said this partnership is an initial step toward improving services for both companies' users. He stated: "The partnership we are building today is still preliminary. It allows both companies to provide better services to their respective customers. We hope this collaboration can yield more results, bringing meaningful outcomes for our companies and, more importantly, improving service quality for our respective customers."
The three companies stated that the arrangement aims to reduce duplication of network investments, accelerate coverage expansion in underserved areas, and improve utilization of existing telecom assets.
