en.Wedoany.com Reported - Telangana Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, delivering a keynote speech at the 2026 Hyderabad Aeromart Aviation Exhibition, announced plans to develop three new airports in Warangal, Adilabad, and Kothagudem, and invited global aerospace companies to expand their manufacturing operations in the state. He noted that Telangana has emerged as an aerospace manufacturing destination, and these airport facilities are part of its strategy to broaden the industrial base, which will help strengthen regional aviation infrastructure and create development pathways for manufacturing and skill-based services.
The proposed Warangal airport, located approximately 120 kilometers from Hyderabad, is expected to have its foundation stone laying ceremony next month. The airport aims to support regional connectivity and alleviate operational pressure on the metropolitan airport. Local officials stated that the relatively lower takeoff, landing, and handling costs at such airports could attract airlines and logistics providers.
Adilabad will be developed as a dual-use civil and military air station to accommodate both commercial services and defense needs. The state government is in discussions with the central government regarding the Kothagudem project, hinting that final approval may be forthcoming. These sites are expected to provide development opportunities for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations and related aerospace industries.
Drawing on his background as a former Indian Air Force pilot, Minister Reddy emphasized the potential cost-effectiveness and workforce development advantages of local MRO and manufacturing clusters. The government plans to leverage available land, infrastructure, and policy support to attract investment and provide operational convenience for partners. Officials stated that these initiatives will help improve the supply chain and drive training programs for technicians and engineers.
State authorities indicated that further information on project timelines, regulatory approvals, and investor facilitation measures will be announced subsequently, with follow-up consultations planned with central agencies and industry stakeholders. The minister reiterated that, as part of efforts to diversify transportation infrastructure and promote regional growth, global enterprises are welcome to consider business expansion in Telangana.
