en.Wedoany.com Reported - Assam Cabinet Minister Rameshwar Teli inaugurated a 720-meter-long road overbridge in Tinsukia. The overbridge connects A.T. Road with Sripuria, spanning the LC Gate No. DD47 railway crossing, with a total project cost of 650 million rupees, of which the Assam state government contributed 360 million rupees and Indian Railways contributed 290 million rupees. The facility aims to eliminate long-standing traffic delays caused by the railway crossing and improve access between Sripuria, Congress Colony, and the southwestern areas of Tinsukia with other parts of the town.

Attendees at the inauguration ceremony included Tinsukia MP Pulok Gohain, Margherita MLA Sanjoy Kishan, Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Sumit Sattawan, along with several senior administrative officials and public representatives. Local officials noted that the overbridge will connect major residential areas with commercial zones, providing smoother passage for motorists, pedestrians, and emergency service vehicles.
Local representatives emphasized that the new infrastructure is crucial for alleviating daily traffic issues for thousands of residents in Sripuria and surrounding areas, and called on commuters to jointly maintain the overbridge to preserve its long-term appearance and functionality. The expected reduction in crossing congestion is anticipated to enhance the reliability of public transportation and shorten cross-town travel times during peak hours. Administrative sources indicated that this co-financing model, with clearly defined contributions from the state government and railways, could serve as a template for future local projects addressing railway crossing bottlenecks. The opening of the overbridge is seen as a step toward modernizing urban infrastructure in Tinsukia, improving daily commutes for residents and businesses.
