en.Wedoany.com Reported - Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso (TPS) is collaborating with the Instituto de Seguridad del Trabajo (IST) to strengthen its safety culture through a "Care Summit" and an awareness campaign agenda targeting terminal employees and staff from contracting companies.

Carlos Vásquez, TPS's Head of Health, Safety, and Environment, stated that these initiatives are part of the ongoing process to reinforce the safety culture. Under the "Care Summit" initiative, IST supports TPS by diagnosing the current state of its safety culture. This process includes gathering information through dialogue groups with employees at different levels, covering workers, middle management, operators, supervisors, and managers, as well as conducting the NOSACQ-50 survey among terminal staff, including employees of contracting companies. This survey is an international tool for measuring organizational safety culture.

Vásquez explained that IST will help understand the company's current position regarding safety culture, aiming to identify gaps or weaknesses within the organization and strengthen them. He particularly emphasized the role of middle management, noting their significant impact on the implementation of daily safety standards. Once the information collection is complete, TPS will hold feedback meetings to inform employees of the results, highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement, with the goal of achieving zero accidents.

The safety awareness campaign is an annual calendar developed jointly with the Comité Paritario de Higiene y Seguridad (CPHS), with support from IST and various TPS departments. This year, initiatives related to key risks, commuting accidents, healthy living, and ergonomics have been promoted. IST also participated in activities related to "World Safety Day," providing support through actions such as workplace exercise breaks, mental health content, healthy living initiatives, and information booths. Francisca Bustamante, TPS's Risk Prevention Supervisor, emphasized that these activities aim to maintain diversity and have garnered active participation from both employees and staff of partner companies.

Ximena Cerpa, IST's Deputy Manager of Prevention, noted that this cultural support program is co-constructed, involving all levels of the organization, and praised TPS's receptive attitude. Juan Carlos Rojas, President of the TPS Joint Health and Safety Committee for Stevedoring Operations, stated that these activities have been well-received and stressed the importance of continuously reinforcing prevention messages.
