en.Wedoany.com Reported - The first train for the Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport Line has arrived in Sydney, marking a key milestone ahead of the commencement of passenger services on this line.

The three-car train set departed from Vienna and traveled over 23,000 kilometers to arrive at Port Kembla, before being transported to Sydney Metro's new maintenance and stabling facility at Orchard Hills for assembly.
Designed specifically for airport passengers, the new trains feature wider accessible aisles, luggage storage under seats, real-time flight information displays, designated wheelchair spaces, hearing loops, and bicycle storage areas.
The remaining 11 train sets are expected to arrive in the coming months, with dynamic testing planned to begin later this year on the 23-kilometer, six-station line.
Once operational, the journey from St Marys Station to Airport Terminal Station will take approximately 15 minutes.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King said the arrival of the trains is a key milestone for the project.
"It's great to see the metro trains that will serve the new Western Sydney International Airport arriving. These trains, equipped with luggage racks and flight information displays, will be among the most advanced in the country," King said.
New South Wales Minister for Transport John Graham said the trains are specifically designed to meet the needs of airport passengers.
"These trains will be unique to the Western Sydney Airport Metro Line, offering wider aisles for passengers with luggage, digital screens showing real-time flight information, and modern accessibility features. The platforms and gates at the new airport station will also be wider to provide a better passenger experience when services begin," Graham said.
The Sydney Metro Western Sydney Airport Line will connect St Marys with the new Western Sydney International Airport and surrounding areas when the airport opens next year.
