en.Wedoany.com Reported - Spain's National Market and Competition Commission and Moroccan authorities have successively approved Baleària's integration of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea's operations in the Alboran Sea and the Strait of Gibraltar, marking new progress in the shipping group's regional business expansion. Moroccan authorities approved the two transactions last week, while Spain approved the Strait of Gibraltar transaction in March 2026 and the Alboran Sea transaction in May 2026.

Following this integration, Baleària has acquired four vessels: JJ Sister, Almariya, and Volcán de Timanfaya for the Alboran Sea division, and Ciudad de Málaga for the Strait of Gibraltar division. This move follows the acquisition of Canary Islands assets in May 2026 and is based on taking over operations in the region under the Baleària Canarias brand. The company is currently executing a three-year investment plan worth €45 million (approximately $49 million).

Baleària President Adolfo Utor stated that this merger consolidates a long-term commercial project, uniting core enterprises in Spain's maritime sector. The integrated group has a fleet of over 50 vessels and an annual turnover exceeding €1 billion. Baleària expects that after the merger, its annual passenger volume will exceed 8 million, and cargo volume will surpass 11 million linear meters.
