Since the corridor was fully opened last June, it has been facilitating efficient two-way flows of imported overseas raw materials and high-quality coal from the Yellow River region.
Yantai Port in Shandong Province (referred to as Yantai Port) is one of China's 25 key hub ports along the coast. The opening of the Delong-Yantai Railway cross-provincial corridor has changed the previous pattern where cargo had to be routed via the Lanyan and Jiaoji railways, allowing bulk goods to directly connect to the national railway network.
Leveraging this corridor, Yantai Port has established a extensive sea-rail intermodal transport network. Within Shandong Province, the network connects five cities: Yantai, Weifang, Dongying, Binzhou, and Dezhou. Outside the province, it has opened 16 freight stations, reaching regions such as Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Shaanxi.
Over the past year of operation, the route has maintained high-density, regular operations, with an average of nearly 60 trains per week. Raw materials unloaded at Yantai Port can be directly transported to inland industrial and mining enterprises, while high-quality coal from the Yellow River region is gathered and transferred via this route, establishing a stable two-way cargo flow.
To support the efficient operation of the corridor, Yantai Port has promoted the establishment of a five-in-one collaborative platform involving "port + government + customs + railway + enterprises." It has taken the lead in implementing the "single document" reform for multimodal transport, offering a full-process service of "single entrustment, single quotation, single settlement" to address industry pain points such as cumbersome procedures, multi-party coordination, and complex documentation in sea-rail intermodal transport.
Industry insiders believe that the Delong-Yantai Railway cross-provincial corridor has filled a long-standing gap in railway port evacuation capacity that constrained Yantai Port's development, promoting resource complementarity and industrial linkage among Shandong, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and other regions.
