en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Building Envelope Alliance (BEA) has been officially launched as a European network, aiming to connect research, experimentation, training, and market access in the building envelope sector. This initiative brings together research institutions, universities, and innovation accelerators, including Tecnalia, with the goal of supporting building envelope solutions throughout the entire process from early-stage research to market entry.

This alliance aims to address the current fragmentation in the industry. Companies, designers, and professionals often struggle to find the right expertise, infrastructure, and services at different stages of the innovation process. This disconnect hinders both technological development and the adoption of new solutions in real-world projects.
The BEA provides an integrated access point, offering consulting services, testing, performance validation, professional training, and technology transfer. Its activities are designed to support envelope solutions from concept validation to market application. The network aims to become a reference platform for designers, construction companies, building managers, and other professionals. To this end, it will coordinate capabilities distributed across different European regions, including technical knowledge, laboratories, and training programs. Collaboration among organizations from multiple European countries seeks to bridge the gap between technology development and practical application, integrating performance, sustainability, and circularity standards into envelope solutions from early stages, with technical support provided throughout the process.
The founding members of the Building Envelope Alliance include research institutions and European organizations from various countries. Spain's Tecnalia participates as a founding member and will join the alliance's board. Tecnalia will also lead an internal technical committee focused on tracking regulations and standards to consider final requirements early in the design phase and support decision-making to facilitate the implementation of innovative solutions and technologies.
The alliance integrates and draws on some activities of the European Façade Network (EFN), a professional network focused on façade training. The experience accumulated by the EFN has been incorporated into the European ecosystem promoted by the BEA. The network is open to companies, professionals, and organizations. Interested parties can access services through a single European-level contact point and seek opportunities for collaboration, training, and career development. The BEA builds on the experience generated by the European MEZeroE project, which focuses on the development of high-performance energy buildings.
