en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 7, GameChange Energy secured a tracking system supply contract for the Lower Wonga solar-storage project in Queensland, Australia. The project, developed by Lightsource bp, has a photovoltaic capacity of 380MWp and is located near Gympie, Queensland. It plans to use GameChange Energy's Genius Tracker 1P Terrain Following system to adapt to the complex terrain conditions of the project area.

Construction of the Lower Wonga solar-storage project commenced last month, with the engineering, procurement, and construction contractor being a consortium of INTEC Energy Solutions and Gotion Hi-Tech Australia. In addition to the solar power station, the project will include a 281MW/843MWh battery energy storage system to enhance power output flexibility. Once completed, the project is expected to generate approximately 800,000 MWh of electricity annually, meeting the yearly electricity needs of about 126,000 households.

The Lower Wonga solar-storage project has also entered into a power purchase arrangement with Australian mining company Rio Tinto, with approximately 40% of the station's power output—equivalent to 112MW of solar capacity and about three hours of storage duration—already contracted. The project will subsequently move into phases including tracker delivery, module installation, energy storage system integration, and grid connection commissioning. The target completion date is the end of 2028, though the actual timeline will depend on construction progress, equipment supply, and grid connection arrangements.
