en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 7, Côte d'Ivoire launched the Ferke solar power plant in Ferkessedougou, northern Côte d'Ivoire, with an installed capacity of 52MWp. Covering approximately 70 hectares, the solar plant is equipped with over 73,300 photovoltaic modules and is expected to generate about 90GWh of electricity annually, making it another large-scale solar power plant in Côte d'Ivoire following earlier solar projects.
The Ferke solar power plant involves an investment of approximately 41 billion CFA francs and is developed by PFO Energies, a subsidiary of PFO Africa. The project is advancing under a concession agreement and a power purchase agreement, both with a term of 25 years. Upon expiration of the agreements, the Ferke solar power plant will be transferred to the national authorities of Côte d'Ivoire, forming a long-term public power asset. This arrangement helps integrate private investment, project operation, and the public power system.
Côte d'Ivoire has been steadily advancing solar project development in recent years. With the launch of the Ferke solar power plant, clean electricity supply will increase in the northern region, and the share of renewable energy in the power mix will be enhanced. Further solar projects are planned in areas such as Korhogo, Katiola, Tengrela, Bouna, Kong, Bondoukou, Dabakala, and Touba. The operational performance of the project will still need to be observed based on power generation performance, grid connection capacity, and the implementation of long-term power purchase agreements.
