en.Wedoany.com Reported - The National Energy Center (NEC) of Oman has announced its membership in the National Sustainable Water Alliance, a consortium formed by NEC, the National Trading Company, SUEZ International, and the Water Investment Company. The alliance aims to provide 15-year water and wastewater operation and maintenance services to Nama Water Services Company. This collaboration takes place against the backdrop of multiple economic and investment agreements signed between the two countries during the official visit of Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq to France.

The Oasis Water Project is a large-scale initiative covering the Muscat Governorate, North Sharqiyah Governorate, and South Sharqiyah Governorate, serving a population of approximately 2.3 million. It is the largest project of its kind in the region and the largest operational contract undertaken by Suez in the Middle East. Abdullah bin Rashid Al-Badi, Chairman of NEC, noted that the alliance not only reflects Oman's credibility in attracting high-quality investments and establishing strategic alliances but also represents a model of deep collaboration between national institutions and international partners, facilitating knowledge transfer, local talent development, and the application of global best practices in water management.
The project directly serves Oman's long-term national goal of improving water network efficiency, aiming to reduce the water loss rate from the current approximately 34% to 11% by 2040. Through this initiative, Oman seeks to enhance water security, improve service quality, and advance its 2040 Vision plan for building a smart and sustainable water system. Al-Badi added that NEC's participation in and support for the National Sustainable Water Alliance is fully aligned with the center's vision of fostering effective strategic partnerships, promoting high-value investments, enhancing localization content, and supporting sustainable economic development, while also helping to consolidate Oman's position as a hub for regional strategic projects and international cooperation.
