en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Santa Cruz Port Execution Unit (Uneposc), under Argentina's Ministry of Production, Commerce, and Industry, organized a technical inspection at Puerto Deseado, attended by five companies interested in the public tender for the repair of Berth 4 and its transition zone. This berth is one of the most important areas of the local dock.

The inspection was conducted using a small boat from the Argentine Navy, allowing the team to examine the current condition of the piles, front beams, and other structures of the berth from the water. The berth is currently out of service.

Walter Uribe, the port's general coordinator, stated that today a technical inspection was carried out with companies interested in the repair of Berth 4 and its transition zone at Puerto Deseado, thanking the Argentine Navy for the assistance of its small boat, which enabled a comprehensive view of Berth 4's condition from the water.

The companies involved in the process include a provincial firm and two companies from Chubut and Buenos Aires provinces, respectively. The project is large in scale, requiring bidders to have specific technical experience in port infrastructure repair.

The project plans a comprehensive repair of the piles and dock foundation structures, with an expected construction period of 16 months after the award. Uribe noted that this is a highly significant and large-scale project, requiring specialized companies to carry out the work.

The renovation of Berth 4 will restore the port's full operational capacity, enabling unloading operations in the area currently decommissioned due to damage. Currently, two berths are non-operational; after the repair, this berth will be able to handle unloading operations, aligning with the provincial government's goal of strengthening strategic infrastructure in the region.

The bidding process continues, with the opening of bids expected to take place on July 23 at Uneposc headquarters. So far, two companies have purchased the tender documents, and it is anticipated that one or two more companies will join before the deadline.
