en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Industrial Automation Division of Mitsubishi Electric US has launched the new MELSEC MX controller, a platform that unifies machine control, engineering design, and the requirements of high-performance interconnected manufacturing systems.

Aga Zupancic, Product Manager at the Industrial Automation Division of Mitsubishi Electric US, stated that the MX controller is designed to meet the high integration demands of motion, logic, and networking control within a single platform. By combining a multi-core architecture with CC-Link IE TSN, the controller enables deterministic communication and synchronized control in complex multi-axis applications, while simplifying machine design and reducing system complexity.

The MX controller is designed for applications requiring high performance, precision, and flexibility. It integrates multiple control functions into a single device, reducing system complexity and enhancing response capabilities in high-speed multi-axis systems. With integrated networking and real-time communication capabilities, users can coordinate motion, I/O, and data exchange within a unified control environment, making it suitable for fields such as packaging, material handling, and electronics manufacturing.

The controller features a high-performance multi-core architecture and native CC-Link IE TSN drive, enabling simultaneous execution of sequential, motion, and network processing. This approach supports synchronized control across devices while allowing real-time control information and data to coexist on a single network, facilitating expansion from standalone machines to more complex interconnected systems.

The MX controller simplifies engineering design and commissioning processes. Using Mitsubishi Electric's GX Works3 software, engineers can develop sequential and motion control in a single environment, reducing the need for separate tools and improving workflow efficiency. Support for the IEC 61131-3 programming standard and PLCopen motion function blocks promotes code reuse and consistency, while built-in diagnostic, data logging, and analysis tools help accelerate troubleshooting and system optimization.

To support interconnected manufacturing initiatives, the MX controller includes OPC UA communication capabilities and supports MES integration. This communication enables efficient data exchange between the control system and higher-level platforms, helping manufacturers gain visibility into machine performance, support predictive maintenance, and make more informed operational decisions. Built-in cybersecurity features, including encryption, authentication, and access control, are designed to meet IEC 62443-4-2 requirements.

The MX controller is designed to integrate with Mitsubishi Electric's existing automation ecosystem. Compatibility with the MELSEC iQ-R and iQ-F series PLCs allows users to transition to the new platform while leveraging existing hardware, helping to reduce migration costs, protect prior investments, and minimize the environmental impact of disposal and reconstruction.

With its unified architecture and high-performance design, the MX controller provides a scalable foundation for modern interconnected machine control.
