AGCO Corporation and Agility Robotics Sign Agreement for Humanoid Robot Manufacturing Automation

en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 20, U.S. agricultural machinery manufacturer AGCO Corporation signed a commercial cooperation agreement with humanoid robotics company Agility Robotics, planning to deploy Digit humanoid robots at its Hesston, Kansas agricultural machinery manufacturing plant starting in 2027 for a production automation pilot. The first batch of application tasks includes sorting production parts, stacking, and moving material totes, with the robots participating in material handling operations within the plant's existing assembly and production processes.

The Hesston plant is AGCO Corporation's agricultural machinery production base in the United States. Under the agreement between the two parties, Digit robots will first take on parts sorting and palletizing work, and will be responsible for placing material-loaded totes at designated storage locations. These tasks involve material organization, transfer, and storage between production workstations, with the first-phase application scope concentrated on production links that are highly repetitive and require continuous manual handling.

Agility Robotics is responsible for providing Digit humanoid robots and supporting automation technology. The robot uses AI-based control technology, can adjust its movements according to production workflows, and integrates with the company's material handling tasks. The two parties will also use the Agility Arc cloud-based robot management platform to support robot task deployment, operation management, and multi-robot collaborative operations, enabling the equipment to connect to existing plant operating processes.

Thomas Enhoff, Director of Manufacturing Technology at AGCO Corporation, stated that this cooperation combines humanoid robots with the workflows of plant production personnel, with a focus on tasks that are repetitive, physically demanding, and carry certain operational risks. The two parties plan to evaluate the robots' integration with existing production facilities during the pilot and will incorporate operational safety management into the deployment work.

Agility Robotics has previously carried out commercial humanoid robot cooperation with Toyota Motor Corporation, GXO Logistics, and Schaeffler. Among these, Digit robots have been used for material handling operations in industrial and logistics environments. This agreement with AGCO Corporation expands the application scenarios to agricultural machinery manufacturing plants.
