en.Wedoany.com Reported - On October 5, Teradyne announced a strategic investment in Bright Machines and simultaneously launched a manufacturing automation technology collaboration. The two parties will integrate Teradyne's robotics and automated test technologies with Bright Machines' software-defined manufacturing platform for the automated production of AI servers, data center equipment, and other complex electronic hardware.

The collaboration will initially cover precision robotic assembly, automated loading and unloading of test equipment, and autonomous material handling within factories. The planned production environment will deploy the Bright Machines manufacturing platform, Universal Robots collaborative robots, and Teradyne board-level test systems on the same production line, enabling assembly, visual inspection, robot operation, material flow, and electrical testing to form a continuous production process.

The two parties will also connect data generated across different manufacturing stages. The Bright Machines platform will handle product traceability and manufacturing data management, Teradyne's test systems will provide electrical performance data, and robots and logistics equipment will provide production execution and material movement data, ultimately forming an end-to-end data chain from product design and assembly to inspection and electrical testing, used to adjust production parameters and shorten changeover and new product introduction times.

Bright Machines currently has deployed more than 130 microfactories for more than 60 customers in over 10 countries, and conducts AI infrastructure equipment manufacturing in the United States. Its platform covers manufacturing design, robotic automation, machine vision, material handling, quality inspection, and production data management. This collaboration plans to validate the integration of Teradyne's robotics and test equipment in both Bright Machines' own production environment and customer factories.

Teradyne's existing business covers both semiconductor automated testing and industrial robotics, with its robotics business including Universal Robots collaborative robots and autonomous mobile robots. The company's robotics business revenue reached $100 million in the second quarter of 2026, with electronics manufacturing and semiconductor customers having become one of the largest end markets for this business.
