en.Wedoany.com Reported - The overall upgrade project of the Beijing Suburban Railway Urban Sub-Center Line (Beijing West to Liangxiang Section) officially entered service on July 1, 2026, with the first train departure. The project spans a total length of 31.5 kilometers, passing through three administrative districts: Fangshan, Fengtai, and Shijingshan. Two new stations, Yamenkou East Station and Fangshan East Station, were built along the existing line, while three existing stations—Beijing West Station, Hou Lücun Station, and Liangxiang Station—were renovated and upgraded. As a result, the three districts of Fangshan, Fengtai, and Shijingshan each gained a new suburban railway station: Fangshan East Station, Hou Lücun Station, and Yamenkou East Station, respectively.
The Beijing Suburban Railway Urban Sub-Center Line was first inaugurated on December 31, 2017. On June 20, 2019, the line was extended eastward to Qiaozhuang East Station; on June 30, 2020, it was extended westward to Liangxiang Station in Fangshan District. This western section upgrade project is the first suburban railway renovation and upgrade initiative jointly approved by the Beijing Municipal Government and China State Railway Group, and it serves as a key step in the comprehensive functional enhancement of the Urban Sub-Center Line.
With the launch of the western section upgrade, the total number of trains on the Urban Sub-Center Line has increased to 26, with more frequent services during morning and evening peak hours. In the initial phase of operation, the western section (Liangxiang to Beijing West) runs 13 pairs of trains daily, more than doubling the previous scale of 6 pairs. Simultaneously, 12 trains are scheduled to provide direct connections between Fangshan and Tongzhou, with 10 of them reaching the Beijing Urban Sub-Center. During the morning peak commuting period, a total of 6 trains depart from Liangxiang Station, with the earliest departing at 6:26 AM, arriving at Beijing West Station at 6:55 AM, and reaching the final stop, Qiaozhuang East Station, at 7:41 AM. The line adopts a combined transport organization model of "stop at every station" and "express with limited stops" to meet diverse passenger flow demands.
According to the published train schedule, the fastest travel time from Fangshan East Station to Beijing West Station is just 23 minutes, while from Yamenkou East Station to Beijing West Station, it is only 10 minutes. In terms of fares, a one-way ticket from Liangxiang Station to Beijing West Station costs 6 yuan. The new-generation CRH6F-type smart intercity EMUs have been deployed on this line, with full Wi-Fi coverage inside the trains, providing a more comfortable commuting experience for passengers. Fangshan District has actively promoted the integrated development of rail transit and cultural tourism resources, establishing a regional public transport feeder network.
The operation of the western section upgrade of the Sub-Center Line has effectively improved rail transit commuting conditions between the southwestern areas, including Fangshan, Fengtai, and Shijingshan, and the central urban area as well as the Beijing Urban Sub-Center. As a demonstration line leveraging existing railway resources to serve the overall development of the capital, this project holds significant importance for enhancing the Beijing suburban railway network and promoting coordinated regional development.
