en.Wedoany.com Reported - STARLUX Airlines has taken delivery of its first special livery aircraft, "AIRSORAYAMA," at the Airbus Delivery Center in Toulouse, France. The livery, designed by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama, marks the official launch of their collaboration. This A350-1000 is regarded as the world's largest flying canvas.

At the delivery ceremony, the Airbus Delivery Center was transformed into an immersive art space, featuring reflective metallic surfaces, dramatic lighting, and a custom soundscape. STARLUX Airlines Chairman K.W. Chang and Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Lars Wagner jointly unveiled the aircraft, whose liquid-metal-like fuselage shimmered under the lights. Chang will personally pilot the "AIRSORAYAMA" on its inaugural flight back to Taiwan, departing from Toulouse at 15:00 local time on July 4 and arriving at Taoyuan Airport at 11:05 on July 5.

STARLUX Airlines CEO Glenn Chai stated that the project has generated tremendous enthusiasm, with the team spending three years to realize Sorayama's design, working closely with Airbus and paint manufacturer MANKIEWICZ, adhering to a standard of perfection in every detail. Airbus Commercial Aircraft CEO Lars Wagner noted that the A350-1000 is the flagship model for STARLUX's long-haul ambitions, designed to optimize routes, reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions, and provide passengers with a comfortable experience connecting to the world.

The "AIRSORAYAMA" livery features a silver base with gold accents, with the co-branded "AIRSORAYAMA" logo printed on the fuselage, belly, wingtips, and top. To achieve Sorayama's signature liquid metal effect, STARLUX collaborated with Airbus and MANKIEWICZ to develop a specialized multi-coat process that delivers fluid depth while meeting aviation requirements. The collaboration also produced two custom metallic shades, "AIRSORAYAMA Silver" and "AIRSORAYAMA Gold," which were developed jointly with Pantone and incorporated into the Pantone Color System, becoming the first metallic colors custom-designed for commercial aviation. Beyond the exterior, themed onboard amenities, safety videos, and co-branded merchandise will accompany the entire journey.
