en.Wedoany.com Reported - Malaysia's Global Telecommunications Group plans to build a data center with a potential capacity of 210MW in Kota Seri Langat, Selangor, having acquired a 36-acre plot for this purpose.

Kota Seri Langat, located in the town of Banting in southern Selangor, is a planned development zone spanning 2,890 acres, encompassing both residential and industrial buildings.

The land was sold by Compass IP, a joint venture established to manage the industrial area within Kota Seri Langat, to Global Data Infrastructure Sdn Bhd, the data center arm of Global Telecommunications Group.

The Kota Seri Langat project is spearheaded by PNB, Malaysia's largest state-owned fund management company, which, together with Malaysian pension fund investment institution Kumpulan Wang Persaraan and real estate firm AREA Industrial Development Holdings, holds controlling interest in Compass IP. Details regarding the development timeline have not been disclosed.

Global Telecommunications Group currently operates data centers across five locations. Four of these are in Malaysia: Kulim in Kedah, Melaka, Sedenak in Johor, and Kuching in Sarawak. Another data center is located on Batam Island, Indonesia, across the Strait of Malacca.

Selangor, situated on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and surrounding the capital city Kuala Lumpur, includes Cyberjaya, a planned development zone and one of the country's largest data center hubs.
