en.Wedoany.com Reported - China's Great Wall Motors (GWM) has confirmed it will build a new factory in Aracruz, Espírito Santo State, Brazil, with a planned annual production capacity of 200,000 vehicles, expected to be fully operational by 2029. The factory will be equipped with four major process areas: stamping, welding, painting, and final assembly, distinguishing it from other factories that only conduct assembly. Once fully operational, it is expected to create approximately 3,000 direct jobs and up to 10,000 indirect jobs.

The Union of Metallurgical and Electrical Material Workers of Espírito Santo (Sindifer-ES) believes that the establishment of the new factory will drive the development of the metal-mechanical and electrical material industry chain in the region. The union estimates that about 90% of the engineering services can be performed by companies it represents, according to Folha Vitória.

Sindifer-ES President Luiz Alberto Carvalho told local media that opportunities cover all stages of factory construction, including metal structure and plant installation, equipment installation, cable wiring, and industrial automation systems. These activities are highly correlated with the metal-mechanical industry.

The union also noted that electrified vehicles require more wire harnesses, connectors, and sensors compared to traditional internal combustion engine models, which will bring growth potential for electrical component manufacturers, thereby expanding opportunities for suppliers in this field.

GWM's first factory in Brazil began production in 2025 in Iracemápolis, São Paulo State. This factory is GWM's first production base in the Americas and the Southern Hemisphere, and its third factory outside China with a complete production foundation. The factory covers a total area of 1.2 million square meters, with a building area of 94,000 square meters, and a designed annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles. Facilities include a welding area, robotic painting line, assembly line, energy and equipment supply systems, and an integrated supply chain and logistics system.

GWM's total investment in Brazil over ten years will reach 10 billion reais. In the first phase, 4 billion reais will be invested, lasting until 2026, covering the brand's launch in Brazil and the reactivation and expansion of the Iracemápolis factory. In the second phase, the company plans to invest an additional 6 billion reais between 2027 and 2032 to promote job creation, parts localization, and new product development.
