en.Wedoany.com Reported - Afentra is accelerating its growth strategy in Angola, having launched a drilling program in Block 3/05 while expanding its portfolio and preparing to increase its equity in key offshore assets. This strategic direction was clarified after the company completed a strategic review, which reaffirmed its positioning as an independent exploration and production company.

The AIM-listed oil producer's latest operational update shows that infill drilling operations in 2026 continue at the Block 3/05 asset, with the Pacassa SW well having spudded. Reservoir drilling is expected to commence in the coming weeks, with initial results anticipated by the end of July, followed by the planned spudding of the Impala-2 development well.

These two wells, funded by the national oil company Sonangol, are expected to deliver a production growth potential of approximately 9,000 barrels per day, with recoverable resources exceeding 100 million barrels. Preparations for hydraulic workover operations are scheduled between late 2026 and 2027.

In Blocks 3/05 and 305A, Afentra continued its asset rejuvenation efforts in the first half of 2026 through increased water injection, infrastructure upgrades, and workover programs. Peak water injection has reached 70,000 bpd, with a target of achieving a stable injection rate of approximately 100,000 bpd in the second half of 2026.

Afentra plans to complete the acquisition of additional interests in Blocks 3/05 and 3/05A from Etu Energias in the third quarter, subject to final government approval. The transaction will increase the company's working interests in these assets by 3.33% and 3.66%, respectively, as part of its strategy to expand its Angolan portfolio.

In terms of progress in other blocks, operational planning advanced in Block 3/24 ahead of wellhead inspections scheduled for July. Onshore, Afentra completed geophysical surveys across its licensed areas in the Kwanza Basin after obtaining the KON 4 license. The eFTG survey results are currently being interpreted and integrated with existing datasets.

Technical studies are also underway in Block KON 15, with subsequent plans for a 2D seismic acquisition program expected to commence in the second half of 2026.
