en.Wedoany.com Reported - Mitsubishi Electric has supplied six MSZ-RZ wall-mounted air conditioning units to East Cheshire Hospice in the UK, as part of the institution's plan to reduce its carbon footprint while maintaining patient care standards.
Nearly 80% of the hospice's funding relies on donations, requiring a balance between operational costs and care services. This installation is part of a broader expansion and renovation project that includes a comprehensive assessment of the hospice's heating and cooling systems.
Michelle Walker-Brown, Facilities and Hospitality Manager at East Cheshire Hospice, stated that the institution chose the MSZ-RZ units after evaluating options, as these units provide both heating and cooling functions, meeting its sustainability needs. Due to reliance on charitable donations, energy costs are closely monitored, and the automatic functions of the air conditioning units help avoid waste.
The six units provide heating and cooling, helping to maintain comfortable conditions for patients, families, and staff throughout the year. Each unit is equipped with a 3D i-See sensor that monitors room occupancy and optimizes temperature distribution and airflow, shutting down the system when the room is unoccupied to minimize operating costs and avoid waste.
These air conditioning units utilize Mitsubishi Electric's Plasma Quad Plus filtration technology, designed to remove bacteria, allergens, and PM2.5 particles. The system also neutralizes viruses, helping to maintain indoor air quality. Brett Hewitt, Director of Hewitt's Refrigeration, who oversaw the installation, noted that the R290 refrigerant used in the new units is still quite new in the industry, and Mitsubishi Electric's training provided ample support. The installation was completed within a few days, avoiding occupied rooms and visitors to minimize disruption.
East Cheshire Hospice is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2032 and aims to inspire other organizations in the local health and social care system to become more environmentally sustainable. The institution operates five retail stores, reduces food waste through smart ordering and menus, recycles used vegetable oil into biodiesel, and recycles used batteries, light bulbs, cartridges, and IT hardware. Used tea bags and fresh coffee grounds are recycled for the rose trees and shrubs on the grounds. East Cheshire Hospice is a member of the Hospice UK Environmental Sustainability Group, sharing best practices and information on sustainable initiatives with other hospices.
