en.Wedoany.com Reported - The new mooring and pontoon facility at the head of Upper Loch Fyne in Scotland, managed by the Cairndow Mooring Association, will open on July 18. This project is the first phase of a community-led regeneration plan for the area. Cairndow is located at the head of this 40-mile-long sea loch, surrounded by the Arrochar Alps. Developers say the new facility aims to leverage local sustainable and harmonious growth opportunities, attracting visitors and supporting the development of surrounding independent businesses.

Leisure and marine tourism have been identified as key drivers for Cairndow's regeneration, an area renowned for outdoor activities such as fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing, wild swimming, hiking, mountain biking, trail walking, and forest bathing. Project contractors include Gael Force (responsible for pontoon construction) and A&L Macrae (responsible for site preparation and installation).

Complementing the new Loch Fyne Mooring & Pontoon, an upgraded safe walking route—Shepherd's Way—is located just 150 meters away. This path encircles the head of Upper Loch Fyne, enabling locals and visitors to connect with their points of interest. The Loch Fyne Mooring & Pontoon is funded by the SSE Renewables Hydro Community Fund, the local community enterprise "Here We Are," and community member Andrew Mickel.

In a spirit of cooperation and goodwill, a group of dedicated locals generously supported the facility. Among them, Tuggy Delap donated the coastal land adjacent to the pontoon, and Alexander Miles donated his boat to the community. Stephen Caira, Chair of the Cairndow Mooring Association, said: "The opening of the Loch Fyne Mooring & Pontoon marks a proud moment for Cairndow. This is the first step in our community's broader vision—to provide a welcoming gateway to Loch Fyne for both residents and visitors. The pontoon sits at the heart of an exciting period of community-led growth in Cairndow. Together, this project will create a lasting opportunity for our village and firmly establish Cairndow as a destination on Scotland's magnificent west coast."
