en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ecolab announced on July 2 the completion of its acquisition of CoolIT Systems, a company specializing in direct liquid cooling for high-density data centers, for approximately $4.75 billion. This acquisition extends Ecolab's global strengths in water technology, research and development, and services into the artificial intelligence infrastructure and computing market. Water is at the core of AI; the production, power supply, and cooling of chips all depend on water.

CoolIT's sales have grown by over 100% since the beginning of 2026, primarily driven by the accelerating demand for liquid cooling in AI data centers. Ecolab possesses deep technical expertise in water management, enabling it to provide end-to-end solutions across the entire AI value chain, covering ultra-pure water preparation, power system optimization, and direct liquid cooling for data centers. By combining digital capabilities with specialized technology, Ecolab helps customers improve resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and accelerate AI infrastructure construction.

Ecolab plans to launch a new end-to-end 3D TRASAR™ cooling platform at the Supercomputing exhibition in Chicago in November 2026. This platform integrates CoolIT's cooling distribution units (CDUs) and high-performance cold plate technology, combined with 3D TRASAR™ digital monitoring and optimization capabilities and advanced cooling fluid solutions, aiming to provide smarter and more efficient liquid cooling management for data centers.

Leveraging Ecolab's global network of technical expertise, the platform can simultaneously optimize water usage, power efficiency, and computing performance in data centers, providing operators with real-time operational insights to reduce cooling system energy consumption, improve energy efficiency, and drive data centers toward near-zero water footprint goals. The platform supports next-generation AI architectures such as NVIDIA Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell, helping to enhance system stability and uptime, and accelerate the construction of more efficient and sustainable artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Ali Heydari, Technical Director and Distinguished Engineer at NVIDIA, and Saket Karajgikar, Senior Engineering Manager at NVIDIA and member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), stated that NVIDIA has collaborated extensively with Ecolab and CoolIT in areas such as coolant certification, coolant health monitoring, liquid cooling infrastructure development, and next-generation AI factory technologies. From NVIDIA's engineering labs and cutting-edge R&D projects to large-scale AI infrastructure deployments, Ecolab and CoolIT have demonstrated technical strength, innovation capability, and collaborative execution.

Looking ahead, Ecolab and CoolIT will continue to work with global hyperscale data center customers, partnering with power, water, and infrastructure ecosystem players to jointly drive the design and construction of next-generation AI data centers, enhancing performance while reducing resource consumption and environmental impact.

With the addition of Ovivo and CoolIT, Ecolab's global high-tech business annual sales have grown from approximately $1.5 billion in 2021 to nearly $1.5 billion. It is expected that by 2030, the annual sales of this business will reach $4 billion, with an operating profit margin rising to 25%, continuing to drive the group's sales growth and profitability improvement.

Christophe Beck, Chairman, President, and CEO of Ecolab, stated that the development of artificial intelligence should not come at the expense of natural resources and community environments. With Ecolab's innovative solutions in microelectronics manufacturing, power systems, and data centers, the company is helping customers accelerate AI scaling while achieving more efficient and sustainable operations. Leveraging a strong and stable core business and new growth engines that capitalize on opportunities in the high-tech and life sciences sectors, the company has reached new heights of strength and is confident in delivering on its growth commitments.
