en.Wedoany.com Reported - Felipe Abdala, coordinator of the Nuevo León Logistics Cluster (Clúster de Logística de Nuevo León), pointed out that logistics has become a core pillar of corporate competitiveness in cross-border industrial operations between the US and Mexico. Amid persistently high global business uncertainty and tightening delivery deadlines, the speed and reliability of cargo transportation directly determine the success or failure of cross-border production operations.

The Colombia-Laredo Port is consolidated as a strategic tool for flows to Texas and the Rio South Texas Region.

Abdala stated that cost is no longer the sole variable managers evaluate in logistics; trust has become a decisive factor, specifically including trust in delivery times, operational continuity, and supply chain resilience. He noted that market dynamics are highly volatile, with uncertainty being the only common denominator. Companies need certainty in their flows, timing, and deliveries to endow the entire structure with resilience.

In bilateral trade, Abdala emphasized two key capabilities: operational resilience, i.e., the flexibility to overcome daily disruptions without hindering processes; and speed to market, i.e., the competitive advantage brought by rapid delivery. Routes, customs, carriers, and warehouses no longer operate in isolation within this ecosystem but function as an integrated system that must coordinate precisely.

In this context, the Colombia-Laredo Port (Puerto Colombia-Laredo) crossing is regarded as a key strategic tool, providing flexibility for cargo flows to Texas and the Rio South Texas Region. This crossing directly connects to the La Gloria Highway (autopista La Gloria), enabling efficient transit without leaving Nuevo León. Expansion plans include adding import and export bridges, increasing operational lanes to 16, and integrating smart elevated roadways directly connecting to Interstate 35 in Texas.

The long-term strategy also includes orderly urban and commercial development around the crossing to form a structured logistics hub, concentrating specialized services, secure stopping points, and infrastructure meeting international trade standards.

Abdala concluded by emphasizing that the true driver of the ecosystem is bilateral cooperation. The Nuevo León Logistics Cluster is actively strengthening coordination with Texas industry and government agencies to design more integrated supply chain networks, aiming to enhance supply chain visibility, address shared challenges, and capitalize on nearshoring opportunities.
