Astral Aviation Resumes Two Weekly Cargo Flights from Haikou, China to Johannesburg, South Africa
en.Wedoany.com Reported - Astral Aviation has resumed dedicated cargo flight operations from Haikou, China to Johannesburg, South Africa. The restart of this route is based on a strategic cooperation agreement signed with Fly Noor Aviation Services at the 2026 China International Air Cargo Expo in Shanghai.
The agreement, signed by the CEOs of both companies, aims to enhance air cargo connectivity between China and Africa. As China-Africa trade volumes continue to grow, the demand for reliable cargo capacity is rising accordingly.
Under the cooperation agreement, Astral Aviation will operate two weekly scheduled flights using Boeing 767-300 freighters, each with a payload capacity of 50 tons. The route departs from Haikou, the capital of Hainan Province and a key free trade port, transits through Astral Aviation's hub in Nairobi, and finally arrives in Johannesburg, forming a direct logistics corridor between Asia and Africa.
The route is expected to support the transport of e-commerce goods, electronics, consumer products, textiles, automotive parts, pharmaceuticals, and general cargo from China to Africa, while facilitating the export of African perishables, agricultural products, and other high-value commodities to Asian markets. The resumption of the route comes at a critical time when China-Africa trade is expanding and demand for reliable air cargo capacity is increasing. This partnership integrates Fly Noor Aviation Services' commercial expertise with Astral Aviation's extensive African network, providing enhanced logistics solutions for freight forwarders, shippers, and e-commerce practitioners in both regions.
Sanjeev Gadhia, CEO of Astral Aviation, stated that restarting this cargo flight in cooperation with Fly Noor Aviation Services reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger logistics bridge between Asia and Africa. This twice-weekly dedicated service will provide customers with reliable capacity, reduced transit times, and access to one of the world's fastest-growing trade corridors. Johannesburg, as a major gateway, will distribute cargo to Southern, Eastern, and Central Africa through Astral Aviation's established regional network; Haikou offers direct access to one of China's fastest-growing manufacturing, logistics, and e-commerce hubs. The resumption of this route aligns with Astral Aviation's long-term strategy to strengthen trade links between Africa and key global markets by expanding its scheduled freighter network to provide reliable air cargo connectivity for international shippers.
