Wedoany.com Report-Apr. 30, Macmahon Holdings, a mining infrastructure services provider, has secured a two-year underground mining services contract worth A$105 million ($67.2 million) for the Deflector underground gold and copper mine in Western Australia. The agreement, which may be extended by mutual consent, will commence next month. As Macmahon already has personnel and equipment operational at the site, no significant capital investment is required beyond routine maintenance.

Genesis Minerals has confirmed Macmahon as the mining contractor at the Gwalia and Ulysses gold projects.

“We are very pleased to have been awarded an underground mining services contract at Deflector where we have worked closely with the Vault team over several years,” said Michael Finnegan, Macmahon’s Managing Director and CEO. “Macmahon values our relationship and is excited to continue building on this. I would like to thank the Vault and Macmahon teams for their continued dedication and look forward to continuing to support the development of the Deflector operation.”

Additionally, Genesis Minerals has appointed Macmahon as the mining contractor for the Gwalia and Ulysses gold projects in Western Australia’s Leonora region. This new 13-month contract, valued at A$67 million, replaces a prior agreement at Gwalia by mutual agreement and covers services at both sites. Work is set to begin this month, adding to Macmahon’s orderbook without requiring substantial capital expenditure. The company’s total capital expenditure budget for the 2025 financial year remains at A$230 million.

Both contracts encompass comprehensive underground mining services, including development and production activities. “We are delighted to continue as the mining contractor for Genesis at the Gwalia and Ulysses gold projects, both key assets in Genesis’ strategic growth plans for the Leonora region,” Finnegan stated. “We look forward to supporting Genesis, and I am confident we will continue to build on our strong relationship.”

Earlier this month, Macmahon also secured a three-year extension for its mining services at the Byerwen coking coal mine in Queensland’s Bowen Basin. These agreements highlight Macmahon’s ongoing role in supporting Australia’s mining sector through established partnerships and efficient operations.
