en.Wedoany.com Reported - euNetworks has introduced a new diverse fiber route on the ultra-long-haul connection from Frankfurt to Milan, spanning 1,057 kilometers and crossing the Alps, offering a shorter alternative to the traditional coastal route via Lyon and Marseille. euNetworks stated that this development creates opportunities to further shorten and diversify interconnection routes within its broader network.
This new route follows the launch of another short direct path from Frankfurt to Milan via Zurich in October 2025. Together, these two routes provide the shortest cumulative connections between Frankfurt and Milan, with distances of 771 kilometers and 1,000 kilometers respectively.
Customers using the new route can access euNetworks' metropolitan area networks in Paris (covering 38 connected data centers) and Milan (covering 18 connected data centers), and further connect to over 600 connected data centers across Europe.
euNetworks CEO Marisa Trisolino stated that the launch of the new route reflects the company's commitment to providing the most direct and diverse connectivity options in Europe. With the growing demand for artificial intelligence, cloud, and data-driven connectivity, shorter routes and network diversity are becoming increasingly critical. Trisolino noted that opening a diverse route across the Alps required significant perseverance and collaboration with a broad network of suppliers.
euNetworks operates 18 metropolitan networks across 53 cities in 17 countries, connected by high-capacity intercity backbones and directly linked to all major cloud platforms.
