en.Wedoany.com Reported - The Tianjin Highway Development Service Center has organized highway departments across multiple districts to install 12 emergency escape ladders at five flood-prone highway underpasses, including the Ketang Underpass on the Kehuang Line.

Tianjin has a large number of widely distributed highway underpasses, some of which are located in low-lying areas. During the flood season, short-duration heavy rainfall can easily cause rapid water accumulation, posing safety risks to passing vehicles and pedestrians. The Tianjin Highway Center has directed district-level highway departments to conduct a thorough survey of all underpasses that have experienced water accumulation in previous years, and to develop customized installation plans based on the principle of "one strategy per location."

The newly installed escape ladders are positioned on the roadside strips on both sides of the underpasses, with one to two ladders on each side. The ladders are made of metal, with anti-slip surfaces and highly visible markings to ensure that people can quickly identify and safely climb them in emergencies. Additionally, each underpass is equipped with lifebuoys, secured near the ladders or pump stations. In extreme flooding scenarios, these facilities enable citizens to self-rescue and escape, while also facilitating rapid rescue operations by emergency personnel, thereby comprehensively enhancing the emergency response and rescue capabilities of the underpasses.
