CCCC First Highway Engineering wins road and water supply projects in the DRC

en.Wedoany.com Reported - Recently, CCCC First Highway Engineering Group secured two engineering contracts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), namely the Lot 2 project of the Mbanga–Lualaba National Road No. 2, and the rehabilitation and expansion of the primary, secondary, and tertiary water distribution pipeline network in Kananga City, Kasai Central Province. The two contracts cover the fields of road construction and urban water supply, with the contract amounts and planned construction periods undisclosed.

The Lot 2 section of the Mbanga–Lualaba National Road No. 2 is located in the south-central part of the DRC and is an important component of the country's transportation and connectivity development program. The mainline of this section spans 105.7 kilometers, constructed to national trunk road standards with a dual four-lane configuration and a design speed of 100 km/h. The scope of work includes subgrade, pavement, drainage, slope protection, and ancillary traffic facilities.

This road serves as a vital transportation corridor connecting local resource-producing areas with major cities. Upon completion, the project will improve transport conditions along the route, enhance vehicle traffic efficiency and road safety levels, and provide infrastructure support for the outbound shipment of mineral and agricultural resources, regional personnel movement, and commodity circulation.

The water distribution pipeline network project in Kananga City is located in Kasai Central Province and mainly involves the rehabilitation and expansion of the primary, secondary, and tertiary water distribution pipeline networks, as well as the construction and renovation of zonal control facilities for the pipeline network. The specific construction scope covers flow metering chambers, flow and pressure regulation chambers, integrated metering and pressure regulation chambers, and sectional valve chambers, in addition to the installation of public water standpipes and the construction of household connection pipelines.

Once the project is put into operation, the coverage and transmission capacity of Kananga City's water supply network will be enhanced, and the conditions for zonal management, flow metering, and pressure regulation of the pipeline network will be further improved. It is expected to strengthen the domestic water supply security for over one million local residents.
