en.Wedoany.com Reported - The UK government has announced a £1.3 million grant to improve safety on two A-roads in Surrey. Local Transport Minister Lilian Greenwood is expected to formally confirm the funding, which will be used for the route connecting the A319 in Chobham and the A320 in Guildford.

The funding aims to enhance safety levels on this route. It is estimated that the proposed improvements could reduce accident injuries by more than one-third over the next 20 years.

Greenwood stated that everyone deserves a safe road environment, and the government's road safety strategy is making comprehensive improvements across multiple areas, from driving licenses to infrastructure. She noted that this funding will have a tangible impact in Surrey, making travel safer and delivering benefits worth over £6 million to the community.

These sections are described as among the highest-risk A-roads in England, with a history of multiple accidents.

The grant comes from the Safer Roads Fund. The fund is expected to prevent approximately 2,750 deaths and serious injuries on some of England's highest-risk A-roads over the next 20 years.
