The project adopts a coordinated configuration scheme combining grid-following and grid-forming energy storage technologies. As the proportion of new energy installations continues to rise, traditional grid-following equipment faces stability bottlenecks in weak grid environments. Grid-forming technology enables energy storage equipment to simulate the characteristics of synchronous generators, autonomously construct voltage and frequency, and provide inertia support to the power grid. The coordinated configuration of these two technologies can precisely meet the system regulation demands of high-proportion new energy grid integration, effectively compensating for the grid's absorption shortcomings.
According to the project developer, after commissioning, the station is expected to consume approximately 530 million kWh of green electricity annually, equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 307,000 tons per year. The project will significantly enhance the peak-shaving and frequency-regulation capabilities of the regional power grid, providing infrastructure support for optimizing local load curves and ensuring the safe and stable operation of the new-type power system. Leveraging its advantages in wind and solar resources, Wuchuan County is targeting the goal of becoming a "ten-million-kilowatt-level clean energy export base." This energy storage project is a key component of its clean energy industry layout.
