en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 14, 2026, Aligned Climate Capital acquired the Armoracia community solar project in Collinsville, Illinois, with a capacity of 7.3 MWDC. The project will utilize high-density, terrain-following solar racking to reduce land use requirements. Armoracia will supply power to Ameren Illinois grid customers through the Illinois Adjustable Block Program and is expected to commence commercial operations later this year.

Planted is a company that manufactures dual-tilt solar racking systems, which reduce or eliminate the need for land grading at installation sites. Compared to traditional pile-driven ground mounts, this racking system has a lower profile and is supported by the company's design platform.

Peter Davidson, CEO of Aligned Climate Capital, stated that this acquisition helps establish Planted's platform as a bankable infrastructure solution at commercial scale. Planted's platform is designed for land-efficient use, enabling solar projects to be deployed on sites where traditional methods would require more land. Previously, developers had limited ability to deploy actual project pipelines into Planted's solution due to a lack of institutional buyers willing to finance construction and hold assets. Aligned's acquisition of Armoracia addresses this issue and creates a financing precedent for the technology at commercial scale.

The Armoracia project spans 16 acres and requires no land grading. Aligned specializes in acquiring and long-term managing distributed solar and energy storage projects.

Eric Brown, CEO of Planted, noted that community solar projects rely on compact land budgets and execution certainty. Armoracia achieves 7.3 MW of capacity on 16 acres, and the land can be restored for other uses after the array's lifespan ends. This is precisely the outcome that Aligned's holistic approach can bring to the broader community solar market.
