en.Wedoany.com Reported - Alaska Airlines has announced two new nonstop routes to Hawaii from the western United States, flying from Boise Airport (BOI) in Idaho and Spokane International Airport (GEG) in Washington to Honolulu International Airport (HNL).

According to the flight schedule, the airline will operate daily flights from Boise to Honolulu starting December 17, using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The one-way flight distance is 2,464 nautical miles (4,568 kilometers), with a maximum block time of 7 hours. Offering daily service from the outset is optimistic, as the previous ultra-low-cost carrier Allegiant Air operated the route only once a week between 2013 and 2014. Data from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) shows that in the 12 months ending March 2026, there were 41,045 round-trip passengers between Boise and Honolulu, making it Boise's fourth-largest unserved market, behind Orlando (78,369), Austin (48,017), and Nashville (45,673). Currently, most passengers travel to Honolulu via Alaska Airlines (34%), primarily connecting through Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Portland International Airport (PDX). During the review period, the broader Boise-Hawaii market had 119,955 passengers, including 32,919 from Boise to Kahului, 23,217 to Lihue, and 21,679 to Kona.

The Spokane to Honolulu route will launch on December 19, with Alaska Airlines planning to operate one weekly flight using Boeing 737-900ER aircraft. The one-way flight distance is 2,503 nautical miles (4,637 kilometers), making it the second-longest nonstop route for this aircraft type, behind San Francisco to Liberia. This is the airline's third airport in Washington state to offer Hawaii routes, following Seattle-Tacoma Airport and Paine Field (PAE); Alaska Airlines previously operated Hawaii routes from Bellingham until 2019. Between April 2025 and March 2026, the Spokane to Honolulu route had 41,234 round-trip passengers, making it Spokane's fourth-largest unserved market, behind Orlando (56,587), Ontario (48,503), and Nashville (43,004). The total passenger volume between Spokane and Hawaii was 116,552.

Both routes have been operated previously. DOT data shows that Allegiant Air operated the Boise to Spokane route from February 2013 to March 2014, carrying 16,185 round-trip passengers with a load factor of 84.7%; and the Spokane to Honolulu route from February 2013 to April 2014, carrying 16,079 passengers with a load factor of 82.4%. Due to the ultra-low-cost model, the average base fare (excluding taxes and fees) at the time was approximately $155 one-way (about $219 in current value), while passengers flying indirectly via other airlines paid 43% more. Between 2012 and 2017, before Allegiant Air retired its last Boeing 757, the airline flew to Honolulu from 12 locations in the contiguous 48 states, carrying a total of 777,529 passengers; during 2012 to 2014, it also operated the Bellingham to Kahului route, carrying 47,871 passengers.
