en.Wedoany.com Reported - Brazilian energy company Mercurio Partners has finalized a 100 million euro (approximately 590 million reais) procurement contract for generator sets to equip two thermal power projects it won in the 2026 Capacity Reserve Auction (LRCAP). The batch consists of 208 units, each with a capacity of 1.3 MW, supplied by Spain's Guascor Energy.

This procurement is part of Mercurio's expansion in Brazil's power sector. According to its plan, the company will invest 1.4 billion reais to build the Pilar Thermal Power Plant (UTE Pilar) in Alagoas state, with an installed capacity of 250 MW. It is expected to commence commercial operations in 2028 and could create approximately 1,000 jobs during the construction phase. Meanwhile, Mercurio will also inject 15 million reais into the Paulínia Verde Thermal Power Plant (UTE Paulínia Verde) in the interior of São Paulo state, which has an installed capacity of 23.4 MW. By pairing a project under construction with an already operational asset, the company aims to generate cash flow in the short term through the operating plant while supporting medium-term growth with the greenfield project.
Mercurio's strategy is not limited to power generation. It also holds a stake in TYR Energia, an energy technology company active in the free market. Recently, TYR acquired GreenAnt for 10 million reais. GreenAnt develops AI-based intelligent consumption monitoring and energy efficiency solutions. This deal integrates thermal power investments, energy trading, and consumer management technology for end users, extending the group's reach from power generation to consumption tracking along the industry chain.
