en.Wedoany.com Reported - Mitsubishi Electric is installing an energy-efficient heating and cooling system for East Cheshire Hospice in the UK to improve patient comfort and support the charity's sustainability goals. The hospice, which has provided palliative care since 1988, relies on donations for nearly 80% of its funding and is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2032.

As part of an expansion and renovation project, East Cheshire Hospice installed six Mitsubishi Electric MSZ-RZ wall-mounted air conditioning units to comprehensively assess the heating and cooling needs of the facility. These systems provide both heating and cooling functions, helping to maintain a comfortable environment for patients, families, and staff throughout the year. Michelle Walker-Brown, Head of Facilities and Hospitality at East Cheshire Hospice, stated that when selecting a solution, they were recommended the MSZ-RZ units, which offer both heating and cooling and meet sustainability requirements. Additionally, as the hospice relies on charitable donations, it closely monitors energy costs, and these air conditioning units feature automatic functions that help avoid waste. Each unit is equipped with advanced 3D i-See sensors that monitor room occupancy and optimize temperature distribution and airflow. When a room is unoccupied, the sensors automatically shut down the system to reduce operating costs and prevent waste. The units also integrate Mitsubishi Electric's Plasma Quad Plus filtration technology, designed to remove bacteria, allergens, and PM2.5 particles, as well as neutralize viruses, helping to maintain a clean and healthy indoor environment for patients.

These units were installed by Hewitt's Refrigeration Ltd and use R290 refrigerant with an extremely low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 0.02, helping to significantly reduce environmental impact while maintaining high performance, even under low outdoor temperature conditions. Built-in Wi-Fi interfaces allow staff to remotely monitor and control each individual unit. Brett Hewitt, Director of Hewitt's Refrigeration Ltd, stated that Mitsubishi Electric's training provided comprehensive support, as these new units use R290 refrigerant, which is still relatively unfamiliar to the industry. They completed the entire installation within a few days, coordinating with vacant rooms and hospice guests to minimize disruption. Plans are also underway to install additional units in other parts of the building to support the hospice's long-term sustainability goals. Michelle Walker-Brown added that they are proud to provide compassionate care in a warm, welcoming environment where everyone is treated with dignity, kindness, and respect.
