en.Wedoany.com Reported - On July 15, China's ModelBest and South Korea's Samsung Electronics reached an end-side artificial intelligence cooperation. The MiniCPM series models independently developed by ModelBest will be integrated into multiple flagship phones of Samsung Electronics and sold to the market with the relevant models. The two parties have not yet disclosed the specific phone models, initial launch dates, or the final version of the MiniCPM model adopted.
On the same day, Samsung Electronics' "Galaxy AI" completed the filing for generative AI services in China. A total of seven phone-side generative AI services have been filed, including Apple Intelligence, Huawei Xiaoyi AI Large Model, OPPO AndesGPT, vivo BlueHeart End-Side Large Model, Xiaomi Hyper AI, Samsung Galaxy AI, and Nubia Doubao Phone Large Model. The relevant filings were completed on July 8, 2026, and announced on July 15.
The focus of this cooperation is to deploy the MiniCPM model from the development platform to consumer electronics terminals sold in bulk. End-side models need to adapt to phone processors, memory, operating systems, and power consumption conditions, and complete tests on inference speed, device temperature, operational stability, and functionality in different usage scenarios before they can be delivered at scale with the phones. ModelBest summarizes the model deployment as a complete chain consisting of algorithms, chip adaptation, power optimization, and terminal integration.
Compared to methods that primarily rely on cloud servers for AI tasks, end-side models can directly use the phone's own computing and storage resources to complete some inference. Relevant functions can still operate under limited network conditions, while also reducing the need to upload some data to the cloud. However, Samsung Electronics has not yet specified whether MiniCPM will handle text generation, image recognition, voice interaction, or other specific functions within "Galaxy AI."
The development direction of the MiniCPM series focuses on reducing the computing power and memory required for model operation. The MiniCPM5-1B text model launched by China's ModelBest in 2026 has a parameter scale of 1 billion; another model, MiniCPM-V 4.6, can run on end-side devices such as phones under approximately 6GB of memory and supports operating systems including iOS, Android, and HarmonyOS. These models demonstrate MiniCPM's deployment capability for mobile devices, but it is currently unconfirmed which product Samsung Electronics is adopting.
The cumulative downloads of ModelBest's MiniCPM series models on platforms such as GitHub and Hugging Face have exceeded 38 million, and they have entered application areas including consumer electronics, automotive, and embodied intelligence. The cooperation with Samsung Electronics further advances MiniCPM into the product integration and market delivery phase for branded phones, extending its application scope from development testing and industry projects to mass-produced flagship mobile terminals.
Subsequent project progress will focus on specific integrated models, production batches, launch markets, and the scope of end-side functions. Only after Samsung Electronics announces the initial product list can the installation scale of the MiniCPM model and its actual application scope within the "Galaxy AI" system be further confirmed.
