en.Wedoany.com Reported - Cryptocurrency and Artificial Intelligence data center developer Mara has reached an agreement with e-fuel company HIF USA to acquire a powered site in Matagorda County, Texas. Located approximately 90 miles (144 kilometers) from Houston, the site spans over 1,200 acres. According to plans, the site is expected to provide up to 1GW of power capacity by October 2027, increasing to 2GW by April 2028. Mara stated that the site is suitable for building a large-scale data center campus and has already attracted interest from potential high-performance computing tenants.

Mara plans to collaborate with Starwood Digital Ventures to develop the site into a large-scale digital infrastructure campus capable of supporting high-performance computing, flexible computing, and Bitcoin mining workloads. The two companies first partnered in February this year through a joint venture, with an initial goal of achieving up to 1GW of IT capacity in the near term. Construction is expected to begin in phases later in 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.

Mara Chairman and CEO Fred Thiel commented on the acquisition, stating that as demand for digital infrastructure continues to rise, the value of sites with reliable and scalable power supply capabilities will become increasingly prominent. This acquisition significantly expands the company's long-term development pipeline while enhancing its ability to support high-performance computing operations and maximize the utilization of this power resource in the future. He looks forward to completing the project with partners and creating long-term value for all stakeholders.
