en.Wedoany.com Reported - Ford Pro has delivered 13 Elevated Observation Platforms (Plataforma de Observação Elevada – POE) based on the Transit Chassis to the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (Secretaria de Segurança Pública da Bahia). These vehicles are equipped with facial recognition, thermal imaging night vision cameras, and systems integrated in real-time with the operations center, aiming to enhance monitoring and response efficiency during large-scale events.

The project was developed by Telecom da Bahia in partnership with aftermarket partners, based on the 4.7-ton Transit Chassis converted into a mobile command center showcased by Ford Pro at LAAD 2024. The platform features a unique configuration in the market, incorporating not only a 2.5-meter telescopic mast with a joystick-controlled 360-degree camera but also an integrated fingerprint biometric reader, generator, and data and telephone network infrastructure.
"The Transit Elevated Observation Platform is a new tool that expands police operational capabilities, combining mobility with cutting-edge technology to enable rapid and robust responses in various situations," said Ivan Nakano, Sales Manager at Ford Pro. "This is an unprecedented project developed for the Bahia state government, and it has also attracted interest from other states."
The Transit POE is equipped with four cameras on the side and front of the vehicle, supporting facial recognition, license plate recognition, and night vision. The 2.5-meter telescopic mast installed on the roof can be operated automatically or manually, featuring a joystick-controlled 360-degree infrared vision camera that provides high resolution, 30x optical zoom, an 80-meter range, and an image server for monitoring.
The vehicle body features aluminum cladding, thermal and acoustic insulation, and a side entry ladder. The interior is equipped with rubber flooring, air conditioning, a workbench with three workstations, a 43-inch monitor, swivel chairs, storage cabinets, a mini rack, an 80-liter refrigerator, a magnetic whiteboard, LED interior lighting, and 127V and USB outlets. The vehicle also includes a fingerprint biometric reader, data and telephone network infrastructure, a 100 Ah auxiliary battery, a generator with an emergency system, and an external power outlet with a current inverter. Externally, it features a crash-resistant bumper, roof and front/rear side LED visual signal lights, an electronic siren with a 200 W amplifier, a loudspeaker, electric side steps, a rear step, and lower steel guards. Ford Pro also provided technical training for operational staff on electrical systems, emergency signaling, telescopic mast operation, and video surveillance system operation.
The Transit Chassis base model has a total operating cost 25% lower than its main competitor. It is powered by a 2.0 EcoBlue diesel engine producing 165 hp, paired with a six-speed manual transmission, and offers three driving modes. The body is constructed from boron steel and ultra-high-strength steel, with a payload capacity of 2,601 kg. Standard features include the Sync Move multimedia system (8-inch screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), electric power steering, air conditioning, steering wheel controls, power windows and door locks, as well as assistance systems such as electronic stability and traction control, corner torque control, roll stability control, crosswind stabilization, and adaptive load control.
