Xiaomi EV Launches Smart SUV Series SkyNomad

Designed to offer a more flexible interior space adaptable to various activities, this series complements the Xiaomi SU7 and Xiaomi YU7, which focus on driving experience, positioning itself as a model centered on passenger experience.

Xiaomi stated that the development of the SkyNomad is based on changes in how people use cars. Today, cars are not only for travel but can also serve as spaces for work, rest, family time, or activities during trips. Lei Jun, founder, chairman, and CEO of Xiaomi, said the answer for the SkyNomad is to "let intelligence define space, building an adaptive cabin that moves with you."

The SkyNomad is built on the all-new Kunlun architecture. This architecture is specifically developed to provide a reconfigurable cabin, featuring a completely flat floor and a long-travel seat system, allowing the interior layout to be adjusted as needed. With these features, the vehicle can prioritize space for passengers, luggage, or pets; when parked, the cabin can transform into a mobile office, lounge, or family activity space. To achieve this versatility, Xiaomi has integrated artificial intelligence (AI), its smart device ecosystem, and automotive manufacturing capabilities accumulated in recent years.

Xiaomi stated that the SkyNomad is aimed at those seeking a single vehicle capable of adapting to different usage scenarios, including daily commuting, family trips, and even occasional remote workdays. Development of the SkyNomad began in early 2023 and took approximately three and a half years. Xiaomi revealed that the new series will soon be launched in China, but no further details have been disclosed yet.
