en.Wedoany.com Reported - Jabil Inc. (NYSE: JBL) inaugurated a next-generation smart logistics hub in Penang, Malaysia, on July 15. Located in the Valdor Industrial Park in Sungai Jawi, Penang, the facility spans approximately 417,000 square feet.

This digital facility will enhance Jabil's back-end operations, supporting customers' rapidly growing product complexity and capacity demands through AI-driven capabilities. Specific functions include streamlined inventory management, enhanced traceability and tracking, and deployment of autonomous robots.

HH Yeo, Senior Vice President of Operations at Jabil, stated that supply chain volatility, rising logistics and operational costs, and the need for greater inventory visibility are key challenges currently facing advanced manufacturing and electronics supply chains. The new facility is a timely investment aimed at enhancing automation capabilities to help Jabil meet future customer demands.

Dato' Hj Abd Rahim bin Hj Jaafar, Executive Chairman of PTT Synergy Group Berhad, noted that the smart logistics hub showcases Malaysia's innovation capabilities, providing world-class industrial infrastructure for global supply chains. Delivered through its subsidiary PROTT Sdn. Bhd. (PROTT), the project is committed to building a smarter, more resilient industrial ecosystem to support Malaysia's economic growth and competitiveness.

The logistics hub leverages Penang's strategic location to support end-to-end material flow, with functions encompassing kitting, inventory management, automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), sorting, packaging, cross-docking, traceability, and just-in-time (JIT) delivery to production lines.

Jabil opened its first factory in Penang in 1995. Currently, the company employs over 14,000 people across eight facilities in Malaysia, serving industries including automotive and transportation, cloud and data center infrastructure, defense and aerospace, healthcare, and semiconductor capital equipment.
