en.Wedoany.com Reported - Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS) has secured a repeat order worth approximately A$10 million from existing US customer Ability Tri-Modal, increasing its order backlog in the North American heavy-duty transport electrification market to 45 diesel-to-electric truck conversions. The new order includes an additional 16 diesel-to-electric conversion kits and 18 replaceable battery packs, along with recurring contract revenue, raising Ability Tri-Modal's committed vehicle count from 4 to 20 units.

CEO and Managing Director Ben Hutt stated that this repeat commitment reflects customer confidence in the conversion platform and the company's North American strategy. Janus Electric places high priority on the North American market, with policy environments in California, other US regions, and Canada all supporting heavy-duty transport electrification. California has explicitly stated plans to make half or even all heavy-duty trucks zero-emission within 10 years, further boosting market expectations. The company has contracts for 20 converted trucks in the US and a phased commercial project for 25 trucks in Canada. Hutt noted that the company is also seeing proposals involving fleets of 10, 15, and 20 trucks.

Potential catalysts include converting more North American proposals into orders, advancing a potential 50-truck pilot project in Texas, and collaborating with port trucking associations. Hutt described port-related opportunities as "absolutely significant," citing truck activity in and out of major California ports. Additionally, selecting priority financing partners and establishing a larger local operational model are key steps, with supply chain financing being critical to executing the growing order backlog.

Janus Electric offers customers multiple technology access pathways, including direct purchase, leasing, rental, and financing, with the core being enabling fleet operators to convert their preferred existing truck models from diesel to electric power. Hutt said the company is transitioning from Phase 1 to Phase 2, where production, delivery, maintenance, and reliability become top priorities. The company aims to have approximately 75 trucks on the road globally before Christmas, reaching around 150 globally by mid-next year. Achieving these targets depends on the supply chain keeping pace with the order backlog and reliable vehicle delivery in target markets. Meanwhile, as an Australian enterprise, Janus Electric's Australian customers are also committing to purchasing trucks.
